Lost in Tokyo

2005

For a month, I walked the streets of Tokyo. I let myself be carried by the currents of the city. I slipped throught the streets, following a long smooth dolly movement. I made an impressionistic portrait of the Japanese capital, exploring the frontier between reality and my imagination. I photographed the city like a film set, trying to capture the invisible, turning each street, each nook, each subway line into the setting for a future or past event. I saw people alone, and tried to create a wordless connection with them to feel less foreign.
