Père et fils
(Father and son)
NEUS Editions

What is a father? What is a son? What is their bond? Blood? Love? Transmission? Inheritance? Grégoire Korganow photographs fathers, from 30 to 80 years old, standing with their bare chests, with their son of a few months old for the younger ones or in the fifties for the older ones. They are close, often skin to skin. Looking at these portraits, we look for similarities. We look at facial features, compare gestures and attitudes. We imagine a story. We try to unravel the mystery of the relationship. The nakedness of the bodies throws confusion, blurs the tracks a little. Grégoire Korganow sees his images as an invitation to look at flaws, aporia, contemporary disorders. He is interested in the off-field, the minute. The body, its stigmata and its social metamorphoses occupy a central place in his work. Its form is unstable and intentionally permissive, inclusive. Immersion and experimentation determine the device. It is for him the condition of a precise and suggestive image. He prefers to a manifest form, a more ambiguous and fragile photograph that leaves the viewer free of his opinions, of his journey.
